Dr. Abhijit Bapat, MD, Ph.D

Dr. Abhijit Bapat is a seasoned Physician-Scientist with over 15 years of experience as a Medical Advisor, Director, and Executive in the Pharmaceutical Industry. His extensive background spans clinical development of assets in both rare and prevalent indications, with a strong focus on Auto-Immune Disease, Rheumatology, Nephrology, Oncology, Pulmonary disorders (COPD), Metabolic disorders, Gastroenterology, and Dermatology.

Dr. Bapat’s academic research in cellular and translational Immunology, particularly in auto-immune disorders and cancer, complements his industry experience in Discovery, Clinical Pharmacology, Medical Affairs, and Clinical Development. He has actively collaborated with Principal Investigators, Key Opinion Leaders, Advisory Boards, Data Safety Monitoring Boards, and academic institutions, fostering strong professional relationships.

Throughout his career, Dr. Bapat has contributed to product development, submission, and commercialization, holding various roles at leading pharmaceutical companies including AstraZeneca Rare Disease/Alexion Pharmaceuticals, Novartis, and Shire Pharma. He earned his Ph.D. in Microbiology and Immunology from New York Medical College, and his Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery from the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, New Delhi, India and trained in Internal Medicine at Westchester Medical Center in New York.
